Our area orientation tour includes a comprehensive package of information ranging from the cities history to the cities growth, shopping, dining and all the way through to our business and economic statistics. We deliver this information to their hotel the evening before the tour or mail it to their home prior to our meeting. On the day of our tour, we spend approximately 2.5 hours taking them around town. During this time we review the information provided in the package and assist them in increasing their knowledge of our area and the things of special interest to them. Our staff is trained to be knowledgeable about the area's housing market, local recreation, shopping, schools and religious institutions. Our goal is to educate the relocating individual and their family so they will feel confident in their ability to make an educated relocation decision. At the end of our time together, guests will feel as though they are familiar with their new surroundings and have made a friend in Idaho.
Wolff Services has devised a comprehensive area orientation program to assist your international employees in acquiring a feeling of confidence and excitement about their relocation. Through experience we know a lot about what these guests don’t know about living in the United States. Their comfort and confidence while living in the U.S. is greatly enhanced by having a comprehensive orientation of our customs, our holidays and the mechanics of our day-to-day living. For instance, at least 70% of our foreign guests don’t know how our banking system works. We take the time to explain our banking system (including how to use an ATM), and even how to protect themselves from crime.
We teach them about some of our social customs: for example, what is the difference between a buffet and a cocktail party?; why do people here invite you to dinner, then ask you to bring the salad?; when is it customary to bring a gift? We even give tips on tips. Speaking of tips, we help them find the restaurants that will appeal to their tastes. On an even more practical side, our service includes instructions on obtaining a new drivers license, getting a social security number or enrolling foreign children in school. We carefully cover all pertinent information on our local emergency services, religious institutions and cultural connections and even take the time to make sure they understand how to use the appliances in their homes.
The level of frustration a foreign guest experiences can be easily minimized through our helpful 2-hour program. Our orientation package covers many details about life in the United States that we take for granted.
